The ad you just seen was Pepsi poking fun and eviscerate the polar bear commercials that Coca Cola airs during the winter season. The ad starts out like the typical polar bear commercial you would expect from Coke. The atmosphere and tempo is very relaxed, mellow and you see an entire family of polar bears, one would presume it's a father with his 2 children. Then the 2 children see a ship arrive from afar and see their Uncle teddy arrive with two other bears. Uncle Teddy is dressed in summer clothes, his white polar bear fur is brown humorously referencing that bears can get tanned and he is loudly playing the song This is how we do it by Montell Jordan, A classic summer jam. The brand selling points this ad employs is the following is the strong selling point to which Pepsi ad is obviously strong the reason being is that Pepsi decided to be very audacious and parodic of a timeless and popular coke character they created. Pepsi also claimed with their entire chest that summer time is Pepsi time. The next brand selling point is if the selling point is positive or negative, Which lets be honest. It's positive is because it's light hearted and pokes fun at a major competitor. Any consumer that understands the context would laugh out loud and feel good after. The next brand selling point this add achieve is knows itself to which it does by claiming that summer time is Pepsi time. Summer is very popular with drink brands as summer is culturally attuned to parties, relaxation and what better way to celebrate and relax than by having a nice glass of Pepsi. The next brand selling point is tapping into emotions to which Pepsi does by creating an ad that is upbeat, fun, humorous and light hearted, all of these tap into positive and feel good emotions. The last brand selling point is if it's relevant to which it is, Pepsi is a well known brand of soda as is coke even though they are the but of the joke and summer is a relevant and popular season. Overall Pepsi ad was a 10/10 and an example of elite marketing.
